Titanium Marin

sodha

Retro Newbie
A friend's dad passed a while back and is now looking to move on his ti marin
Seems to have some nice parts inc xtr bits, cook bros cranks, ibis ti (i think) stem, middleburn chainrings, flite etc

Any idea what would be a fair price to ask for it?
Also an info on what year it might be would be interesting to know! He believes it was probably a custom size

Thanks!

Unfortunately too much for me!

Very, very nice bike there and I'm sure qualified advice will be along shortly.

Sorry the bike is being sold in such circumstances, clearly a man of impeccable taste. GLWS!

My guess would be a 1990 or a 1991 but I'm not 100% sure. The serial number is most probably on the drive side dropout and that may help us narrow it down. As above your friends dad had really good taste. It's no doubt worth more in parts as is nearly always the case. Aside from the desirable frame the cranks, forks, handlebars, stem etc. are all really sort after as well. It's definitely four figures assuming no damage so avoid Facebook chancers offering you a few hundred quid. My guesstimate, and it is only a guess, would be £1250+. If I didn't already have one, and I had the spare cash, I would happily give you £1400 for it and that might be low balling you. It wouldn't have been a custom size as far as I know, probably a custom build as I think Marin only sold these as frames in the UK. I personally would wait for eBay to have a 80% off selling fees weekend and bung it on for a fair whack or big reserve and see what happens.

Very nice build there, your friend's dad had great taste!

Frame, fork, merlin bars ibis stem and crankset will already net you at least £1500 based on the current market. Just needs the right buyer.

That still leaves very desireable parts such as the M900 STI, Tri-Align brakes and what looks to be a tasty wheelset (can't make out the hubs but I suspect they are decent)

My advice would be to research prices and consider splitting :)

Wonderful bike, and good honest responses here. Do check the seatpost slides up and down asap; these do get stuck and it’s very low down in the frame.
Splitting the bike up will get most cash, but you do need the right tools and the time/knowledge. Don’t want to accidentally thread the crank or something. I suspect the forks would get £300 alone.
Whereabouts are you based?
