THM's Mountain Mayhem Campaign Project - Work in Progress

Re: THM's Mountain Mayhem Campaign Project.............

Chilly morning and no work today. Off to the shed to make a start. I’m running this like a bike thread with updates and meanderings so feel free to make comment, offer advice or scorn.

Re: THM's Mountain Mayhem Campaign Project.............

Cleaned (sorry spiders) lightly sanded with very fine paper and wiped over with satin waterproof varnish I have left over from redoing the kitchen table a while back. Rub it back a couple of times and re apply and it should be ok. None of the cheap stuff. 10 hour drying time so that will stop me fiddling for a bit. :(

Suppose I should walk the dogs.

Re: THM's Mountain Mayhem Campaign Project.............

Will you be using period correct material when you recover the seat

Must have the obligatory smell of mothballs

Re: THM's Mountain Mayhem Campaign Project.............

I may leave the seat back as is and just make up a cushion for the seat base. Clashing but period as per a 1930s version of myself.

Re:

No work so had some time to fiddle.

Staggered the hinges to allow neat fold. Fitted brass bolts to lock out arms but hinges on inside to give strength.

Need to age the brass and steel fitting a little any ideas that wont be too OTT? It's 1930s not 1430s

That recess in the back of the seat is begging to become a magazine rack. Country life? The Nanny? Razzle?

Needs a nice 'in keeping' throw.

Will source a drinks tray and fit it to right side with another hinge.
