Love those, I remember they were a terrible ride and the quality wasn't quite up to par either.
I see one pop up once in a while, people are mad for them still.
Now you never see a Grifter anywhere and it's 10 years younger.
 
Fond memories of riding them, who doesn't like a gear stick!

The one advantage they had ridingwise was if you sat on the seat just right, you could wheelie for ages.
 
When I worked for Raleigh in the mid 80's the craze had passed. They had 100s in storage . O the benefit of foresight and a free empty building.
BMX had taken over .
Grifters by the dozens.
Bombers a plenty.
