Wanted suspension fork

Hi,
I'd like to replace the RST 281 fork on my better halves Giant.
She's had the bike since new, the fork has never been good, but I just fettled the gears for her and took it for a blast around the block and they are awful, just springy and bendy, they also drop a bit when you lift the front end.
I don't think they're serviceable, but if anyone knows how?
What's anyone got? Colour is , obviously, vitally important so yellow, red, bluey purple, to match the bike or something bright orange or green, but nothing boring coloured, white, black, silver etc...

I should have said, 1 1/8" straight steerer, threaded or not. Just something better than this, doesn't need to be fancy.
