Strada bianche - my bike for l'eroica

I think that as long as they are not Lycra, you will be fine.

I found using old shoes with sole plates fine..... I'd practised a lot beforehand though!

Hey,

Congratulations on the ride. I really hope I can make it next year.

Interesting choice of footwear, too. Was it easier without toe clips?
I don't suppose the organisers would let you use those ugly plastic
clips. They would be a good compromise though.

And about the jerseys: what exactly is the rule? I have a lot of
jerseys in my collection that are knitted acrylic rather than proper wool.
Do the jerseys actually have to be real sheep's wool?

Johnny,

I always wear shorts and that kind of shoe. For me it works fine. Apart from that it fits nice, you don't have to take a shower before you start BBQ'ing. This is perfection. BBQ in lycra isn't.

James wore a jersey that was pretty sure an acrylic-wool mixture and he got the bottle and cheese. The unfortunate Dutch was wearing a team Skill-Skala jersey. Nicely matching with his early 80s Gazelle in Skill-Skala colours, but lycra-ish.

Mel,

fine write up and images from the event.

Next time we meet I will certainly supply a bottle of wine and some cheese in return for your efforts in the RB jersey.
