Just reading this ...... I know I've been in contact on another forum, but Tiagra 4600 is 9 speed. Tiagra only became 10 speed with 4700 and these have a different pull ratio to other 10 speed kit, so probably not what you need

If you intend to keep your existing stuff, you are restricted to 5600, 5700, 6600, 6700

Edit and DA 7800 & 7900

Got a very nice set of 4600, not sure if they are 2x or 3x on the left though. Will check.

Well, blow me, just done a search and it looks as though there is a 10 speed 4600 as well as the 9 speed version. Apologies

Thanks for letting us know. That little detail has eluded me. As if Shimano hadn’t made things complicated enough!

There is no 9-speed version of 4600. 10-speed Tiagra 4600 superseded 9-speed Tiagra 4500 in 2011/12.

I'll bow to your expertise. The official Shimano site didn't mention the number of gears, I looked at some forum discussion.
I'll leave it there, I'm already about to hire a JCB to dig myself out
