Stamped M - for mistery. Is it Holdsworth Cyclone?

An old push bike

Serial 20407 on left rear dropout and fork steerer, where there is also A&P stamp and also letter 'M' opposite the serial number. M for mistery? Hope not for murder....

Badge rivets spaced at 57mm. Lovely lug work. Single braze on for DT shifter. Simplex rear dropouts. 27.2mm seat pin. Can it be HW? If so is it Cyclone?

Nice lugwork! I don't think it's a Holdsworth, the lugwork looks too fancy. Unless you know of one that's got the same lugs, of course, but I think it might be more distinctive and pointing to a smaller maker. This is the sort of frame you used to be able to identify by trawling the frame builders pages on Classic Lightweights looking for a match on the lug details, but it's difficult now the site has a new format.

A&P is probably Accles and Pollock, who were the tube manufacturer. Don't know about the M, it could be a maker's mark by the frame builder.

A&P - yes it is Accles & Pollock, M is the mistery I don't know about. Serial numbers correspond to one of three makers mentioned above and year 1955 seems correct too. Lugs not sure, but I read 55 was when Nervex was used for Holds for the first time, some extra handwork was asked from frame customer perhaps?

M apparently Monsoon model, lugs certainly look same to me
