Specialized Hard Rock and Altai travel

Superb area. And you seem to look for the wildest part of it. I have very fond memories of my own trip through the Altaj Republic but I stuck to the more usual route, via Ust-Koksa, Tjungur-Inja, hitchhiking to Kosh-Agash and back to Gornij-Altajsk by bike. Your trip looks more adventurous. Do you have more photos somewhere online, maybe on vkontakte?

Absolutely wonderful and inspiring account and beautiful photos to boot! I'm left envious of your journey. You picked a fine and reliable steed for the trek too, Hardrocks seem ever willing and able.

Do you live in Barnaul then, or did you travel there from another part of Russia?

I came to the Altai region of St. Petersburg, where I lived in the village Askat, near Chemal.

Hi Ivo!
It was very interesting to see the materials of your journey through Gorny Altai. Another Altai route that we drove a group of 4 people passes by reference points: Barangol, CHemal, Oroktoy, Karakol, Onguday, Chike-Taman Yin, to the confluence of the Katun and Chyya, back to the car. Some pictures are in this album: http://vk.com/album862387_174923204
If traveling in the Altai region on bikes interesting here, I can write about this journey. Preserved many photos with small notes to them

Thanks, travel reports are always interesting. Especially from remote regions where cycletravellers are sparse.
My photoset from the Altaj trip is here: http://vk.com/album16186292_102835081 and here: http://fotoalbum.dds.nl/ivo_m/altaj?DDS ... 0a90e30da3

I see you're from Pitr, I'll be there in june again, will be participating in one of Baltic Star's brevets.
