Karma Specialized FSR Ground Control, forks, wheel

JimK404

Marin Fan
FSR ground Control frame, 1997 according to a bloke at Specialized. Plenty of chips, no cracks or dents, but the top shock-mount bolt had been replaced with something sub-par, which then snapped and damaged the hole in the frame.

The forks are of unknown brand. What looks like it should be a disc mount doesn't fit any kind of disc brake that I can find; holes are 25mm apart, I think (could be an inch?). Preload on the top, rebound adjuster at the base of one leg. Coil sprung, with elastomer end and rebound stops. (I say 'elastomer', but it's more of a sort of plasticly soup...)
These might need to move to 1998+, if they can be identified.

Front wheel - hub has Specialized logo engraved, rim as per label. Some rim wear but not much. Valve stem hole has a burr around it, though - no idea why.

All these things are of no value to me; can they be of use to someone else?

Edit: Salisbury / northern New Forest

Any chance you'd strip the frame a fork down and put it in the smallest box it can fit for delivery? For beer tokens, cost of packaging and delivery at the very least?

No worrys if not, cant fault a cheeky ask just in case. 🤘

Assuming UK, I'll see what I can do. No promises though, I have a ton of stuff going on with work and home, so even if I can it might not be quick.

Appreciated. If it doesnt happen,it doesnt happen. I'll sit in the wings and hope someone local can take it.

Could probably drill out that hole and have a insert made to save this frame?
yeah, maybe? Non-trivial to get the drilling in the right place, I reckon. If you can turn aluminium you could replace the missing bushes?

The shock is also available - it's a basic coil-over, no brand that I recognise.

that was the plan.
lining up the hole is pretty straight forwards, you make a guide that gets clamped in place. line up is done from the other hole and a known flat table.
insert is pretty straight forewards too, a simple top hat.

guess no one is interested Jim. I'll send you my PC for delivery costs. cheap as possible please, but don't spend to long looking. :)
