**SOLD** 1994 Klein Quantum Pro for sale

Joolius

Retro Newbie
With regret, I am looking to sell my Klein Quantum Pro. Posting it here in the hope that it'll end up in good hands.

It's a 1994 MC2 model, 55cm (55.9cm top tube ctc, 54cm seat tube ctc) bought off retrobike a few years ago. I have had great fun with it but sadly will need to see it go. I raised the seatpost a bit so as it is set up in the photos it's probably suitable for someone 5'10" or so.

The good:
The frame was well ahead of its time - frame weight is about 1200gm, carbon fork, great sparkly paint, very stiff, internal cable routing throughout. It currently weighs just a bit over 7.5kg according to my crappy luggage scale - lighter than many £1000 carbon offerings available today! It has taken me up the Alps and down at 50mph (!) with no problems at all. Always cleaned very well and stored indoors. Everything is very smooth: hubs are in great condition, wheels spin very well, chain well oiled and clean and front and rear shifting is good.

The bad:
There are some scratches on the shifters, paint scratches on the front fork and left rear seat stay, a small dent on the top tube and some chain rub on the right rear seat stay from when an incorrectly sized sprocket was used. Missing the Klein stem cap (replaced with carbon one). Comes with two front wheels: on the spare, the front IRD 24h rim will need to be replaced. The new Ultegra front wheel is perfect. A rear Ultegra wheel can also be used, but you will need to use a Shimano 9 speed cassette to fit the Shimano spline - thankfully, 9spd Shimano and Campag index almost identically (I've tried).

Parts:
Shifters/levers: Campagnolo Chorus 9 sp
Brakes: Campagnolo Chorus with Swissstop green pads
Front derailleur: Campagnolo Chorus 9 sp
Rear derailleur: Campagnolo Chorus 9 sp
Chainset: FSA Carbon 50/34 (Ergomo branded)
Bottom bracket: Token
Cassette: Campag Chorus (I think) - 13-27
Fork: Klein Aeros carbon
Front wheel: Ultegra 6800 (brand new - only used a few times)
Spare front wheel: IRD Cadence 24h, Sapim butted spokes, Ambrosio hub, hand-built by Wheelsmith. Rim will need to be replaced
Rear wheel: IRD Cadence VSR 28h, Sapim butted spokes, Ambrosio hub (Campag freehub), hand-built by Wheelsmith. IRD wheelset weighs about 1450 grams if I recall correctly.
Tyres: Conti GP Attack front (about halfway through its life), Michelin Pro4 Endurance rear (almost new).
Handlebars: Salsa Poco 44cm
Seatpost: Thompson Elite
Saddle: Specialized Romin
Cables: Nokon
Chain: KMC X9

Comes with the MC2 headset tool and the spare front wheel. The Speedplay pedals will not be included in the sale.

Re: 1994 Klein Quantum Pro for sale

I don't need another bike (yes I know the amount of bikes you should have is n+1) but if I did, I'd be on the train to you right now - pitty it's not a 58 though. Stunning bike.

One of the best bikes ever built IMO. Lovely size tubes. Great dimensions, colour and awesome font. Still looks current despite being 20 years old. This'll turn into a collectors item undoubtedly.

Re: 1994 Klein Quantum Pro for sale

Could we have the top tube and seat tube dimensions please centre to centre?

Thanks

Re:

Just checked - 55.9cm top tube ctc, 54cm seat tube ctc.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
