For sale is a lovely 1975 Dawes Galaxy I got this from the relative of an old chap who had it from new. It is a Reynolds 531 frame with a lovely patina. Nice detail to the top of the fork crowns. The BB shell is stamped Davis Components 60 62. The numbers represent the angle of the stays and are nothing to do with the date of the bike. The frame number is AD 3275. A close friend who has had Dawes for years tells me this means it is from 1975.

Measurements:

Seat Post is 56 cm centre of BB to top of tube.
Top tube is 58 cm centre to centre.
Head tube is 13 cm not including the cups.
Standing height is 80 cm.

Has a very rare 5 speed Sturmey Archer hub geared Wolber rear alloy wheel.

Rear OLN is 126 mm.

Front wheel is an alloy Weinman. Both are 27 x 1 1/4.

I have fitted 2 brand new 27 x 1 1/4 Schwalbe tyres. hard to get hold of quality tyres in this size but these are excellent. Cost £12 each.

Brand new Schwalbe inner tubes. Cost £5 each.

Suntour power leavers.

Has a particularly nice alloy seat post.

Has Tektro 556 long drop brake calipers.

Lovely original Brooks leather saddle.

I know this would make a great project and with the GB L'Eroica next month the frame would be ideal.

Ignore the stem and bars. They were in when I got it and they make it easy to move around and ride!

I don't want to put this on fleabay as it's too nice.

Collection preferred from Stroud, Gloucestershire.

£99

I will reluctantly post for an additional £30

Payment by paypal gift or bank transfer.

Re:

Very tempted, but I'm not sure it's quite big enough, I also wouldn't want to put you through the hassle of posting it as I'm not near enough to collect.

GLWS.

Re:

Thanks. I've been inundated to be honest. Will make a great project as the frame is rather nice. Better lugs than I've seen on most of them and the rear stays are so well made. They are stamped but I can't remember what with.
