Sold Shimano XTR M900 chainset and UN90 bottom bracket

Shimano XTR M900 chainset with nice set of 26, 36, 46 SG-F rings.....175mm arms.

Tapers and threads all good, polished up and ready to go.

Comes complete with original UN90 68 x 107 bottom bracket.....bearings smooth and no play and amazingly no damage to the castilations on the cups even!

The drive side arm has had some historic heal rub, which (now polished) show up in the light at certain angles.....but as you can see from the first picture, not all the time.....as such im letting this one go from the hoard on the cheap as its not in my mind perfect. But it does have the bottom bracket, which are now hard to find in original condition and good working order.....i suspect this would be £40+ on its own.

How did u manage to get the cranks to come up so polished and shiny like that??

The glib answer would be " over 30 years of practice", but to be honest its just hard work over experience.

Polishing is merely getting all you scratches in the same direction.

Chainsets are a good starting point as they dont have too many fiddly bits to get into.

Cantilevers and mechs can be more challenging !

Something simple today. Just cleaned up the stem. Previous owner had an "apple sticker " fetish. He stuck them to everything.....bars, rack, stem, lights! After soaking in some paraffin to remove the goo, it was just a bit of sanding to remove a couple of knocks then a quick polish. As for...

Having spent a large chunk of my career restoring and building automotive things, i thought i might see just how bad things can be and still get them back round to a usable state. So when a really nasty xtr m900 crank came up and after a brief negotiation with the owner, i took the plunge...
