Scott Montana 1990 restoration project

Re:

Welcome to the site Alexandra. I had a '90 or '91 Montana exactly like the one on page 12 of the catalogue. I remember it had a strange paint in that it glowed in the dark under sodium street lamps.

There's not much love for Scotts on here but I remember it rode well when compared with a Lava Dome, a high end Marin, a Muddy Fox and a couple of Specialised.

I managed to bend the forks steerer tube so replaced it with a Project 2 [a very worthwhile upgrade].

This was the bike that got me interested in the sport by exploring local trails with the aid of a map and occasional forays to the Peak District.

Good luck with the build and I look forward to seeing the finished bike.

Hi Alex!

Got in my life more than 20 different Scott bikes / frames, and that is thruth what Mike wrote about bottom bracket shell - for Scott frame You'll need 68mm shell with bristish thread

About lenght of axle - depends of chainset. Exage 500LX had straight arms same as Deore LX M550 or XT M730 So in my opinion You'll need for them 122,5mm axle Can check thet in catalogues for sure if You want, but shorter axles was dedicated for curved or / and compact crank arms

Dear Skolioza,

Thank you for your answer on my thread.
As suggested I have oredered that type bottom bracket today.
The missing parts I have now are less and less. I think I can buy them from the local market in BG.
I wish you happy holidays :)

Re:

I can measure Scott logotype on '90 Scott Boulder (main Scott logotype should havein same dimensions) and height of Boulder letters if that helps

Oh and Tange sticker too!

Re:

That would be great! Thank you! Can you write the dimensions on the file? And attach it back here? BR, Alex
