SB1861 needing some work

All I'm doing with the frame and the paint is cleaning and using a paint renovator to put some shine back into it.

The parts are just having the rust removed and a wipe over with metal polish.

It's amazing how well parts can actually come up. Looks like it's going a come out very very well.

Thank you, those steel bits have come up quite well. I'm just starting on the chain set and derailleurs now. The wheels are the worst part, I can't save the tubs or the spokes but fingers crossed everything else will be ok.

Re:

Thanks for the timeline link- although I'm still not convinced about '73 for 1Rs..
Ain't it always the way though that the moment I write my 'earliest sighting' on the net I immediately find something earlier? I just saw an International Cycle Sport cover dated November '75 with a picture of Moser (again) with a 1R.
Apologies for the slight hijack- In recompense you might enjoy a look at the December '73 cover- presumably that is (just) pre-SBDU. I wonder who built those frames? http://www.internationalcyclesport.com/ ... _1973.html

Re:

Either that or their '73 Milan-San Remo exploit.. story of which is told elsewhere on that site somewhere..

After some work on the paint, and re-fitting a cleaned up headset, this frame is looking so much better...

Now that the frame is shining, it's time to get stuck into cleaning parts - everything so far has come up really well...

Now I just need to tackle the wheels. Apart from the rust, the only thing I can see is a pitted front hub cone.

These are 6200 hubs so the cassette body is held in place by the axle and not the internal hollow bolt.

That's coming on really nice, well done.

Lovely to see the paint turn from flat orange back to gloss red! What paint renovator are you using?
I have SB2607 to tackle shortly.
