Raleigh Road Ace dating

Cheers for the positive comments about my Road Ace respray chaps! The colour scheme is inspired by the Gulf Le Mans cars - I built it last spring to take to the Le Mans 24h race and it was quite a hit with the other race go-ers... The fixie seems very much en vogue in France at the moment so it was just the ticket.

Anyway, I've been into the garage and had a look at my various Raleigh frames to see if there was any pattern in that single character that's stamped under the serial. Annoyingly, there wasn't, except that both 1984 Record Aces have a J!.

Here are the serial details of my bikes, in case it's any use:

Raleigh Type 8806 Training 531 Frame
Serial# WN7004566
Single Character: None

Raleigh Type 8806 Training 531 Frame
Serial# WD7000842
Single Character: None

Raleigh Road Ace 531c
Serial # WL5000012
Single Character: c (lowercase - at least i *think* it's a lowercase c, the paint is pretty thick so it could be a badly stamped P)

Raleigh 501 frame (not sure what it really is!)
Serial # WH4001353
Single Character: V

Raleigh Record Ace
Serial # WA4001601
Single Character: J

Raleigh Record Ace
Serial# WD4002418
Single Character: J

Make of that what you will!! One pattern is that the Record Ace frames are the same size. Hmm.

Odd that neither of the two Gerald O'Donnovan frames (with GOD stickers) has a single character stamped on it.

The search continues I guess!!
