Did anyone here buy the Merlin Ti on UK eBay earlier ?. Hate to break it to you but that looks remarkably like a Raleigh Torus with Merlin stickers. Just thought I would flag it in case the buyer is on here.

Could anyone tell me what bike I have here can’t find it anywhere
Doubtful you will find much on line, they were far east imports.

Established in 1993 by John Moss, Merlin Cycles are one of the longest running online bike stores in the UK. Merlin Cycles was initially a mail order business started in June 1993 by John Moss in the spare bedroom of his house in Whittle Le Woods near Chorley.

A few months later, the company opened a shop premises in Ormskirk, Lancashire. In 1998 Merlin Cycles moved to larger shop premises in Leyland. Merlin Cycles spent ten years in the Leyland premises. During this time they began designing their own mountain bikes, including the Rock Lobster steel hardtails and then the Malt aluminium hardtails. From an original concentration on the UK mountain bike market, recent years has seen the company switch to catering equally for the increasing road cycling market. In 2008 the company moved to their current shop, warehouse and office premises in Buckshaw Village, Chorley.

I hope that helps.

Thank you would it of been used in a race by any chance as there are 3 “tiki wetsuits” stickers attache and vuetaly Italy compression seat how would I come about finding the model and thank you for the info very interesting

Essentially he bought containers of frames from the far east, and would apply the decals here, the bike would then be assembled with a selection of Parts bought in bulk in the same way, and assembled to the customers choice and budget within the options.

I would have to troll through old magazines to be able to give you any more info, ref a model name, (perhaps someone here had a frame the same bitd and would be able to shed more light.)

It might well have been bought by someone who entered some local races on it, but I wouldn't think any more than that, whilst its a good bike its not top end or pro level. To give you an idea buying those frames in bulk his purchase cost would have been around £50.00, more at retail obviously.

I hope that's of some help.

While it is possible it was "raced" it would have only been an average joe just entering a race for fun.
The stickes would be becasue soemone boguth soem stuff that came with stickers and put them on the frame...,thats the sort of thing we did back in the day.
