Raleigh 1984, but what model?

Hi, I'm new to the Forum! Picked up an old(ish) Raleigh from a wonderful old chap hitting 80, who is still riding his pretty bike, built for him by Mal Rees back in 70's. One I snapped from him he built himself for his son some 35 years ago and which I can't figure out what Raleigh model is. I'm pretty sure it is from 1984 as serial number is WG400954, but unfortunately, the frame was resprayed including badge and the gear is a mix of Shimano 600 brakes, Cinelli handlebars, Suntour AR front and back derailleur, Weinman brakes etc. etc. Could be Road Ace 12 or Sirocco 12 or ? Any help appreciated as would than be able to put it back close to original. Took it all apart and looks it used to be red colour. Frame weighs dead on 2kg and and fork 900g if that can establish what tubing was it made off, what model it is and what decals to furnish it with. Thanks ahead for any help!

Some better pics of the frame, i.e The lugs and other details would help but as a very loose guess If the chainsets correct then possibly a Rapide.

Also any chance you can see the original colour underneath the black? Try taking the the wheels out and looking in the dropouts or down the seat tube, or take the forks out and see if you can see the original colour on the steerer or inside the head tube.

And check the seat pin size as well, 26.0 or 25.4 and it's not Reynolds, 26.4 and it probably is, any bigger and it's something at least half decent either way.

Re: to Allen

Thanks Allen. Have checked few times and finally got a glimpse of a colour and it appears red of some sort, crimson red or claret perhaps (Raleigh Sirocco 12 maybe, as per 1984? - pic enlcosed too.

Seat post is SR custom 27.0 alloy and pics are included in this post.

There are no mudguard eyelets on this frame and I think Rapide from 1984 has them though.

Many thanks for your help, as said, my project to revive an old racer (if this ands up to be one) and enjoy it alongside other bikes I own. Or perhaps just enjoying spending time tinkering about and getting hands dirty...
