PY10 FC band on front mech and shifters

I have been lucky enough to pick up a PY10 FC frame in very good condition (pictures will follow i promise)

Now comes the long and unenviable task of chasing down obscure bits of French kit.

First stupid question: the front mech and shifters need to be band on, however, the tubes are 30mm not the standard size 28.6. I thing this makes the circumference about 5mm longer, can I get away with using a standard band/clamp (and a bigger gap between the ends) or am i going to be running it as a single speed for a long time as i look for the correct size ?

Thanks in advance for the advice!

Ah.. I just realised this is mid '80s, carbon fibre, and thus a bit beyond my experience. I will say that mid '70s SLJ front mechs had a lot more 'meat' in the clamp than a Nuovo Record, so one could probably be reamed out if it came to it... at your own risk. Dunno if that's what they did at the factory?

The article at 'On the drops' says the tubes are 2.93mm diameter.
Pi x 2.86 = about 9cm
Pi x 2.93 = about 9.2cm
..so the difference in circumference should only be 2mm
