Parts Bin Trek Mad One

Always wanted one of these, like the idea of a carbon bike with DT shifters.

Won on ebay for a very cheap price compared to others that are on there. I’m fantastic condition, a couple of little marks but pretty excellent for a 17 year old carbon bike.

Paint is pretty special, grey fading to nude carbon.

Obviously the 7 time TdF winner decals are interesting seeing what we all know now.

Listed as a 62cm but the top tube is 58 so pretty much the same as my other bikes.

Built up with bits from the parts bin, 8 speed friction from a mix of Shimano and Campagnolo The only bit bought specifically for it was the 26mm ahead stem. Would like a nicer seatpost at some point maybe.

Ridden a couple of hundred miles on it and it rides really well, position is spot on and very comfortable.

I had the 2004 5.9 Aero - so basically the same frame design in a lighter carbon.
Great frames - rode some great places on that.
I might have a 27.2 mm Bontrager carbon seatpost knocking about somewhere.

It feels great to ride so far, looking forward to putting some real miles on it when the weather gets a bit warmer.

Definitely interest in the seatpost if you can find it.

More miles and climbing. Changed the DT levers to a pair of retrofriction, much more consistant shifting now.

Sorry fella, couldn't find the Bontrager seatpost - must have let it go previously :(

Chainset changed to a Shimano HTII, much better shifting now surprisingly.
