Retro Newbie
Retro IFT frame 17.5" c-c seat tube, (19" c-t).
Got fed up with paying over the odds for retro shimano bits, so had the BB machined flat enough to acept the modern type of BB.
Rebuilt the frame with 9 speed XT and LX bits:
XT rear mech, Front mech and integrated 'Brifters'
LX Cranks and V-Brakes
Skimped on the forks and fitted SR Suntour XCR - nowt wrong with them but a bit heavy.
FSA aheadset and set of carbon spacers(required some machining of steeres tube surfaces to ensure a smooth fit).
Has original stem. bars, seatpost and seatpost QR.
Can even supply with original rear wheel complete with purple nipples if you wish.
Front rim is a Vuelta airline deep section, rear is a Mach 1 (ran out of cash during the build).
All cables are Jagwires (inners and outers).
Some period decals are present but scruffy.
The frame is in good shape, but has wear to the clear laquer in places, through use. No oxidisation of the alloy has occured despite the laquer rub.
This frame still holds its own against modern equivalents, and with the modern groupset, it was always a joy to breeze past people on the hills whio have just spent £800 on a new hardtail - or more for the full sus tanks.
!!Bike will not come with saddle or pedals!!
I am looking for £375 due to the value of the new groupset parts, but am willing to accept sensible offers.
