Afternoon all,

My friend is looking for a bag and rack so he can use his bike to get to work. He wants something handy to use and not too bulky. We looked in Halfords and they have a Topeak bag and rack - the sides of the bag fold down to release two panniers - very fancy and quite expensive. This bag clips onto and off a rack which attaches to the set post.

Has anyone any other solutions - the bag needs to hold a smallish lunch box, PT kit and a couple of other bits and bobs - approx size 12'' x 6'' and 6'' deep.

Thanks all,

Have a good weekend,

Richard

Not much bigger than a bonk bag then :)

Has he thought about a small rucksack type jobby slung on his back?

large saddle bag? then he won't be stuck with the rack on the bike when he doesn't need it either

Rucksack is a no-goer - he refuses to use one!

I think this is the one we looked at -

You also need to buy this - or a rack v similar to this which has detachable sides

The bag is good - the side pods unzip and the panniers fall out. There is a clip which secures the bag to the rack and means it is secure and easy to remove.

I like the system, but it seems quite costly, are there any other options?

Thanks all,

Richard

That look good, i presume you need a rack for it.

I am having difficulty describing the Topeak bag - it is a bag with built in panniers - the panniers are stored in the side pockets. So you get 2 panniers and the top bag when you buy it. The panniers are integrated with the top bag - does that make sense?

Re above - the 'looks good' comment refers to the rack pack.

The Ibera bag look good too although I think he would be fussy about attaching and detaching.
