Inflation calculation doesn't really work, as parts are now far cheaper than they were back then in real terms.

By the same calculation an xt groupset today should be a shade under £1000....its not.....its half that.....

Even products still in production, haven't gone up with inflation as they just would not sell in today's cut price production and sales marketplace. Products are engineered down to achieve value manufacturing or made in cheaper parts if the world.

Depends on the xt group set I suppose some definitely should be worth that,
quality and material quality has gone down across the board a lot and some of the old stuff definitely lasts a lot longer and isn’t made of cinder toffee

they don’t make dual bottle holders like they used to ahaha

It’s got a clampy thing that looks like it wants to clamp to two bars so maybe back of saddle or top of seat stays I think

Attaches to the saddle rails. Then you can attach 2 bottle cages. Were used a lot in triathlon. For aerodynamics, and also to carry extra bottles for ironman distance races. AFAIK.
