Next Year's (now This Year's) Classic Rides

Old Ned

Old School Grand Master
With the New Year approaching I thought perhaps it could be useful to list some of the Classic rides open to us next year and see who is interested.

Most of them are (to me at least!) 'abroad' and if there are any others that you know of then please add them!

These are the ones I know of -

http://www.pendlewitchesvintagevelo.co.uk/

http://www.anjou-velo-vintage.com/

http://www.crvv.be/en/museum/activities/retroronde

I also wanted to add 'L'Eroica' to the list but my browser is refusing to open it and is calling it an 'attack' page. I must admit since trying to open their website Firefox is playing up which is most unusual!

EDIT - there are also all the Veteran CC runs as well, see here -

ANOTHER EDIT - some more, thanks to all who posted links.

YET ANOTHER EDIT ON 30 MARCH

Some of the events on here should be of interest -

I'd be interested in the Pendle Witches ride. It's not too far away from me and not outrageously expensive either. Profits going to charity also makes it seem more worthwhile than shelling out £35 for a Sportive.

The foreign ones are too much hassle though I will eventually combine a L'Eroica trip with a family holiday in Italy - I hope. The website has been flagged as compromised for a while now so I've not been on for ages.

I was thinking about the Pendle Witches as well although it is on Easter Sunday. Like you say, a lot cheaper then a Sportive. It takes in Nick O' Pendle (amongst others!) so a low gear will be required. Do you think 38 x 28 will do? I've never been there - which could be a good thing!

Pity about L'Eroica site, I hope they can sort it out.

There's also La Patramonie which is held in September : http://www.lapatrimoine.fr/

and

Beret Baguette in May: http://www.beret-baguette.com/

Both in or near Paris

Thanks for those links. I must admit that on first viewing La Patramonie looks more like a retro-type event, Beret Baguette seems a bit 'fixie fashion' to me - but 'chacun a son goute' as they say ;)

I've Bookmarked them both whatever. My daughter may be going to live near Chartres early next year so with all these French events I'll have to leave a bike at her place!

Anjou Velo Vintage.

I'm off to Saumur...with my Hobbs (the bike went there in 1952 with my Wife's Dad for a tour of the Loire).

Have a friend who's a winegrower in the region too.

And don't forget the runs the V-CC will be doing in Lincolnshire - plenty of classic lightweight enthusiasts amongst them.

Roadking.

On the Retroronde video, looks like our own Ed Edwards 2:20 in or is that a Flemish Doppelganger? (or whatever the Flemish is for Doppelganger?)

If I do it my lowest would be 42/28 so I better get out there and find a local hill that's similar and get some training in. It looks short-ish and steep - there's a few round here that fit that description!

Have you downloaded the entry form yet from the site? I have, ages ago, but it's still on my desk. Shall we do it? With Household Authority permission of course. ;)
