New bike day

That is lovely.

Maybe a run over with some high end 0000 steel wool gently on some of the alloy, it will really bring it back up to high polish.

Re:

I won’t be going near it with steel wool. The parts are all anodised and century finish. A gentle buffing with a microfibre cloth will be about it lol

Re:

RK, I would happily pay for it. I’d love to know the 1985 price too if anyone cab recall it

Ask and you shall receive. I was quite surprised to see "Now sorted" in answer to the above post being such a rare bike.

Everything about it is just spot on, I guess the only thing that surprises me really is that they didn't fit pantographed delta brakes. Love the stitched on leather bar tape too. It's just a perfect build. Congrats on being it's new custodian :)

Because it’s rare, there is a lack of reliable info on the internet. I’ve read that the prototype had Deltas but all production bikes had panto’d super Record with century finish. I don’t know how true it is.

Interesting, I remember these when new (rare). Nearly bought one and still have the brochure...seem to recall the frame finish is black over chrome if I recall (having not referred to the brochure) ?

Rk.
It’s the same finish that was used on the Argentin Specialissima. It’s a nickel plate so a little darker than chrome then it is clear coated with a dark translucent colour so it looks like a dark grey chomovelato finish.

The finish suffered on many bikes as I understand it and I can’t imagine they were easy to repaint

Re:

My recollection of the finish is a little off but not that bad after 3+ decades...similiar finish also to the Basque Team Fagor Razesa's of the Roche/Yates/Millar/Earley era.

Rk.
