Don't buy fish and chips anywhere in Wolverhampton, some will be cheaper but in my local area not much change from£7 and the fish is nothing to write home about.
One very good one in Fakenham(renowned locally). Bewdley next to the bridge is good can't remember the price but not OTT.Made it into the top 10 nationally I believe.
Had very good one at Bacton from a little place not far from the oil terminal, would guess about £5 ish.
Anywhere looking like a proper chip shop in Yorkshire is a good bet for quality and price in my experience, the one on the Temple Newsham ride being a prime example.
There also used to be a place called Rex's somewhere in Cornwall, superb quality huge portions and eat in was less than a fiver although I doubt it's still there. Either in Bugle or Luxulyan IIRC.
