I did see some crank arm protectors on eBay that fitted over your crank arms, then you heated them until they shrunk to fit. Available in various colours, as well as clear. Not a bad idea IMHO?

There's also these crank protectors that don't require any heat. They're a stick on like the circles you put on the frame to prevent cable rub. Check 'em out. I put some clear ones on my m900 arms to keep them shiny.
