Merlin model...?

Picked this up today and wondered if anyone can shed some light on the model...pretty sure its around early 90's..

some (not much, sorry) serial number help...

gave my brother a Merlin, serial number 763X - Craig Sutton at American Bicycle Group aged it at 1992.

I have a Merlin, serial number 1250X - and has been aged as a late 1995 - early 1996.

Can't be that new as it has canti mounts.
