List of period correct European rims for 1987-1989

Sumskillz

Retro Newbie
Working on two late 1980's road bikes. The wheels are wrecked and unsalvageable. Scoured hub bodies and warped, ground down brake tracks on the pitted rims. There are no rim srickers here.

While finding NOS grouppo matching hubs are easy, sellers of rims seem clueless as to the age of manufacture of the rims they are selling. They seem to only narrow it to a decade, which is not precise enough for me. Does anyone know of any product catalogues online that just focus on wheels or wheelparts like rims from the mid to late 80's?

Re:

These were pretty common in my club in the mid to late 80s:
Mavic MA2
Mavic MA40
Mavic Open 4 CD

I would suggest checking the Raleigh Lightweights, Peugeot and other high end catalogues to see what they specced.

Re:

Pionir, this is exactly the kind of specs I am seeking. I know the period brands, what i don't know are rim models. Thank you.

Re:

My '87 Bertoni came with Mavic MA40 dark anodized rims. They were very durable, I still use them on my winter/rainy day bike.

Don't forget Campagnolo did rims at this time (although the following are a mix of clincher and tubular)

Omicron
Epsilon
Victory and, of course
C Record

All the above are late 80s rims
