Ken Bird bike, 1986, very large frame, Campagnolo Super Record, any offers?

1986 KEN BIRD road bike, built for the current owner in 1986 by Ken himself.

531 Professional tubing 25.5" (65cm) frame.

Campagnolo Super Record throughout.

172.5cm cranks.

Campagnolo I.C.S. shifters.

Cinelli champion du monde 66-49 (wide) bars and stem.

Mavic G40 rims.

Wheelbase is 100cm. Chain rings 54/41.

Note: bike is battered; seat post stuck, but is true; runs well. Suit tall, powerful rider.

Yes, he was, he liked to bring the conversation around to that fact ! He was a character, as they say and he was good to me, I enjoyed his sense of humour, he came down to my house in his Jaguar one evening with his wife Janet (?) I remember in his shop at Crystal Palace ,where he rode in from Orpington regularly, a stooge brought in a totally wrecked wheel that was in a figure -of-eight and he took in out the back for several minutes accompanied by hammering and swearing and then he emerged with a perfect wheel ! I think it was an act he'd perfected over the years for the benefit of new gullible customers like myself! He also built a racer that was brown colour, he said that was the only spare paint colour he had, and called it The Flying Turd to go with Bird. Happy days.
