I think you're right about the bike shop, the spec is halfway between the explosif and explosive pro.

I thought the colour might be a clue but every Kona could come in black if you wanted.

The forks must have been swapped, I'm guessing they removed some kind of suspension

I was lucky enough to find the appropriate forks for this frame; I've given it a clean and polish and treated it to some new decals but I've left the original ones on the forks and stem.

I found a Joe Murray bottle cage, I've also got the original brake booster and a set of the joe murray brake lever extensions that I'll add if I find some appropriate bar ends.

I think my next step is to sort the tyres out, put a black seatpost in and replace the nasty seat clamp.
