Interesting that Leigh's bike is yet another variation of swingarm + pivot design!

Seems to be just on the mongoose versions, brian lopes had the same dropped chain stay on his too.
As for them evolving batch to batch, one of my mates friends had an almost identical 2001 to mine but his had the less beefed up headset and didn't have mountings for a chainguard

while looking for paint I also found her 99 championship bike which was a one off prototype that was the precursor to the later m1s

The very last pre-5th frames got the updated head tube. Pretty much everyone I knew racing them back then had a bit of coke can pressed in with lower cup to take up the gap. I can't remember when ISCG arrived exactly but it was sometime around '01 IIRC. I ordered a CK Steelset for my '02 frame not realising they'd beefed up the head tube and it took a lot of effort to get it in there, and it sure wasn't ever coming out. I ended up having it powder coated with the headset still in situ.

Your collection is mint! I'd love an Uzzi (and gen 1 Tazer) to round out my collection. My Tracer came with a Uzzi link and coil shock that the PO bought directly from Jeff Steber at Sea Otter back in the day. I preferred the lighter OE setup, but the Uzzi link bolts right up to the Tracer.

The predominantly iterative upgrades that Intense rolled out in the past, and the fact they were a pretty small company, means that most things are compatible across a number of product years. I've even seen an FSR back end grafted onto the original M1 SL, and Tahnee Seagrave at one point had a custom DH bike when she was still a wee kid that was made from a Tazer FS front end and an M1 FSR rear.

These are the Uzzi shots from the same '98 catalogue, including Tazer HT - when you look closely it's actually pretty different to the later ones. And apologies to @Lowman for completely derailing his thread about M1 frame numbers!

Love the pics, if I had the painting skills I would do a fro daddy replica, but it would likely just end up looking like stock car paint lol.
always wanted a taser fs to go with the M1 but building the M1 to good spec took me ages upgrading as I went, I was looking to buy a full bike after I killed my sintessi bazooka on a stairset and ended up blowing my whole budget on just the frame at the 2002 (may have been 2001 would have to find out receipts) nec bike show.

My headtube was a mid point, larger than the original 2001 but not as big as the 2002/3 also went with a steel fsa pig as a mate had told me about the headtubes, hoping it comes out as I have a red Chris king for it

There are so many conflicting looks/ statements/ opinions all over the place.Ive posted on facebook groups also..and it is all the same..
Is this now a case of : Serial number does not say anything about the production month and year? on these " earlier/first gen multilink M1"s?Cause that is my main question i have
Obviously i will wait for the reply from Intense themselves...But its cool to see all the info coming out of the woodworks.
Received my lovely Judy DHO fork yesterday also..so now it sits alongside my 1998 GT Lobo STS Dh

Looks like it'll be a stunning build! Love the Lobo too, it's amazing to see one of them that hasn't got bent linkage plates.

I think the 'it doesn't say anything' might not be totally true, but I'd say it's true it certainly doesn't match the later format. Of course this was the fun old days of MTB, Intense were a young company where everything was handbuilt, and the idea of a logical and standard format may well have still been a pipe dream! It'll be interesting to see if Intense come back with anything. If I was still involved in the industry I'd either just email Jeff direct for you or drop in and ask him at Eurobike. Oh well, another life and all that...
