How do you do a 'Barbers Pole' or seat tube bands concerning a home respray?

Is it just masking tape/frog tape and clever craft? Or is there a template they use? I guess its time consuming.

Swirly Barbers poles seem common on Mercian's and few small name makers. Most makers had classic horizontal bands. Some were transfers and not paint, though.

If you've done some yourself then show 'um!

Careful masking.
Once masked, dust coat with the colour under the tape before applying your new colour. Peel whilst tacky or score along the line before peeling. Personally I'd use a vinyl as a mask.

Painter's tape rather than cheap masking tape, but the most essential thing is (as mentioned above) to paint along the edges of the tape with the base colour - that seals the edges and stops the new colour wicking under it.
