How do I remove valve cap to inflate a Cannondale Headshok Fatty D?

The air pressure from my Headshok Fatty D is too low to support my weight. This leads to the suspension bottoming out. The Headshok is part of a Cannondale Super V 1000 from 1994.

I believe there's a valve located underneath the fork crown. But it has a cap on top of it.

Does anyone here know how to remove this valve cap without overly damaging it?
