Holdsworth Super Mistral

Troublesome bottom bracket bast*rd be gone!
Well, that took two 500g packets of soda, and about 10 changes of solution to get the thing dissolved but it worked. Properly wrecked the paint but has also cleared the insides! So, onwards...

Re:

It’s wet-n-dry Saturday. Got all the paint off, virtually. Needs fine finishing next. Sent on the top tube is quite prominent now - fill or leave?
Plus, now under 2kg!
And colour... am wondering about metallic dark stealth grey and white details. Such dilemma.

Re:

I would fill the top tube dents or even have the whole tube replaced if the frame has sentimental value. It would bug me riding a frame with big ass dent in it.

As the TT decal isn’t available, asked HLloyd if they could set one up if I did the art. Mine’s a fairly approximate version, as I had to guess from a photo of someone else bike. Still, it’s not too bad, no? Paper print testing for size / sense before preparing the art to send off.

Those dents are nasty. Drill one or two holes 1/16" opposite, and knock them back somewhat then fill with epoxy. You need to reduce where the metal has swollen and risen up, which might be quite difficult

Re:

Filled it in the end. Was a bit nervous of drilling and when I put the tube former thingy on, the displacement was really slight. Seems to be fairly flat now, hopefully the top coats won’t accentuate any wobbles lol

Re:

Cheers for that. Yes, careful-how-you-go rattle canning with plenty of fine wet and dry between coats. Will probably look ok from a distance and scratch on the first bramble lol
