Something I always do before assembling a bike is to stuff an oily rag down the seat tube, and use a broomstick or something to push it down to the bracket. Doing that a few times (hopefully) cleans out any detritus in there, and discourages corrosion. (Warning: Don't do this if you've got bottle cage bosses or suchlike in your seat tube, or pinned lugs!) If this idea appeals, do the steerer tube, too. You may want to try and get a coating of oil or something inside your downtube and chainstays via the bracket as well, before you start assembling.
I always start assembling with the bracket.. make sure the threads are clear and then grease them well.
The frame is slightly dented here from the band being over tightened
Oh drilling an hole in the underside of the bottom bracket shell is done by many and stops water build up as it can drain out.
