Looking for a high rise lightweight alloy quill stem, that will suit a '92 Explosif. Something of reasonable quality like a Control Tech or Syncros Cattle Prod. Hopefully not too expensive, and in good order.
Control Tech 25° rise, 120mm, 1.1/8"steerer
Synchros Cattle Prod 15° rise, 120mm, 1.1/8" steerer
Or something similar? What have you got?

Is this any good? £25 posted.

I have a steel System Conponents in 120mm with a decent rise, single bolt closed clamp which is 25.4mm however. 311g, some minor tarnishing that could be polished up but overall pretty decent. Came off my Trek 6500.
I do have the matching SC 6061 T6 alloy bar in 560mm width and nominally 224g

Thanks for the offer Tony, however I'm looking for something a little lighter for my bike as I'm putting it on a diet! I suggested the Cattle Prod and Control Stem as they're both in the 200-250g weight range, which is a noticeable difference to my steel Velocity stem.
Incidentally I have what is probably the exact same System Components stem and bars on my '96 Trek 950 - a bike that I really enjoy riding.
What bars and stem do you have on the 6500 now, out of interest?

I used a slightly shorter swan neck type stem, unbranded, the bar is a bog std new shiny steel as it was meant for my g.son. Given he has had 2 bikes nicked I was thinking I can at least have the stem/bars for myself, in the end I bought him a more Raleigh MTB that was lesser spec'd but decent wheels/tyres so I pinched them off that for my old cro-mo Raleigh and put some old bag o shite solid axle onto his, and the SystemComp stem/bars are probably going on my Raleigh as well:LOL:
