The Number Of The Beast
Hi there ive just bought a lovely frame which i would like some advice on please,
It has s2462 stamped on the steerer and lefthand dropout, also has Campagnolo rear dropouts,
Ive tried to upload some pictures and failed as they are all to big,
so if you could copy and paste the link into your toolbar you should be able to view them via my Flickr account

Does anybody think the frame might be a Claud Butler Challenge?

Re: Help!! Is this frame a Carlton or a Claud Butler? s2462

There were loads of frames kicking about like this in the 70's and early 80's. Not a Raleigh/Carlton and I don't recognise it as as CB.

No mudguard eyes and nice shore lines mean it's a nice frame :)

Doesn't reminder of an Elswick, by then the Elswick range was below the Falcon range so was a bit low rent. Your frame is much better :)

Thanks for the nice comment, do you have any idea what make it might be, or where I could look to try and link the serial number?

Am I right in thinking it is from the 70's?

cheers

Yep, 70's to about 1983 and then basically frames had the cables running under the bottom bracket, if it has Allen key brakes then it's towards the later date.

I'll have a think about Mike Kowal, it could become of his?
