My current helmet )an MTB Giro something or other has them) but previous ones haven't.

Though in all the time I've been on a bike it's only happened to me once.

Swallowing flies on the other hand...

I've just bought a new helmet for my eldest as he somehow lost the chin strap clip. His old one has mesh inside that seems to be attached using velcro. If it is any use, I can take it off and send it your way before throwing the helmet away (shame as it is just missing the clip, but we have a new one now).
