GT Avalanche 2010 project

Retro Newbie
Hi new member here, I’ve just started a project bike a GT Avalanche size M from 2010 I think.

I’ve stripped, primed and painted the frame.

I’m just slowly getting the parts together and will post updates as I go. 3D8A5E51-35B0-4992-8461-7073AA7FDF2F.jpeg

I really like the paint job!

I've got one of these, same year, and they ride incredibly nicely for a relatively budget frame.

Looking forward to seeing how you build it up.

I had the Avalanche 1.0 from the same year I think. It certainly had the same decals. Frame was black with the decals being black and yellow. Loved that bike but sadly no longer with me.

Always dreamed of putting Fox forks on it too but that was always to be a pipe dream. I did however change the wheels to some handbuilt ones from Merlin and some disc brakes too.

Great colour choice on yours and looking forward to seeing your progress.

Not sure yet, I’d like some Fox forks but I’m trying to build on a tight budget

Any of the rockshox reba/recon/revs range from around that era would also be ideal, and they're quite easy to service with new seals and oil if you can score a second hand pair cheaply.

Even the lower end Tora forks are pretty good if you can get one with MoCo rather than Turnkey damping.
