Are you sure that's not just the way light is of the end of laurel engraving ?

Fairly sure but it is judging from a photo! The end of the laurel isn't usually deep enough to go that dark, see lower ones for comparison. Happy to be wrong though.

I reckon is just shadow - the whole top engraving is much darker than one below. Either way I think seller would notify about it

Had gone and collected it today, can report there are no cracks. Some Unicorn poo attached to the bike though, made my journey and the price asked worth it just for the pedals alone - Campagnolo Record Pista Con Denti
