Offering early 90s Duell frames

In the Dutch road scene Duell is famous for their serious performance aimed frames with excellent handling characteristics. Duell is the creation of masterbuilder Jan van Dalen and all frames are handbuild by him. Steel only.

The frames I am offering are new old stock or very good condition frames composed from the best materials, for example from Columbus. They show nice detailling, like engravings of logos and signatures in various frameparts. Absolutely no savings on paint quality, like with some Italian thoroughbreds. View the many pics available under the links to form your own impression.

Duell/Jan van Dalen still makes fine steel frames. No longer brazed with lugs, but all welded instead. Visit the Duell website: http://www.duell.nl

The Bologna, New Old Stock

Great build quality and the ride so many rave about comes with this frame. It is a mid 90s frame. Spec it with DA, Record, Chorus or any of the other quality groupset and if the legs are there you will be tough to beat on especially fast twisty courses.

The Thron OS tubing uses Columbus Cyclex steel like with SL, SLX or TSX. It looks like the tubeset benefits from influences introduced with the Max tubeset, for example with the high profile chainstays. It saves an additional bridge, what saves weight. It is definately more oversized than the 3 mentioned tubesets, but with lifting it I do not feel a noticable difference in weight with the SL, SLX or TSX Duells. You can view the specs for this tubing under this link >>> http://ceeway.com/Thron.htm

The paint is a multiple tone red tiger paint. The effect it gives is heavily influenced by angle and light.

Sizing:
Seattube 58cm c-t
Toptube 565mm
Rear spacing 128mm

Serial# 2749

NOS. Price sticker still present.

Mel, thanks!
I have spent the last ten minutes crumpled on the floor bangin' my fists into the carpet holling..."WHY DON'T I HAVE ANY MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!

That Bologna is quite simply magnificent! And what makes the pain even sharper is that it's my size too...

I have a couple of things to add for anyone considering either of these; I bought a Duell frame from Elev12k a month or two ago.

1) It rides absolutely great (built up with an old Ultegra gruppo and other bits I already had); better road feel than my much-more-expensive Ti frame, though it hurts to say so!

2) He really does pack the frames VERY well.

Hope that's useful.

how comes, on the rare occasion i come into the roadie section, all the bikes look huge? :? i've only got a 29" inside leg, and i am looking at getting another old roadie,

More fine Dutch bicycles Mel ! The top is particularly special, glad it's a touch small.

Neither frame is huge. If you have a 29" indside leg what size is a 'medium' zaskar? I'm 6', ride 58 or 59 on the road and had a few 18" zaskars (which I'd equate to medium) which fitted me fine.

they look huge John, that's my point.. :? a medium zaskar is a 18"

but i don't know how too measure roadie..

There are traditional frames and 'modernish' compact frames. On the later I can't tell you much. I am a mountainbiker as well and I've ridden dozens of mountainbikes. What works for me is 18-21". On road the range is 57-61cm (traditional).

This gives you an idea, but of course this is a bit thin to base your frame purchase on. Maybe you can borrow a bike or ask a local expert (lbs, club) for advise?

@fourstringsisplenty
Thanks for the very kind words :) I am happy the Zurigo found such a good home. Enjoy it!

I do have a neat stem to go with the frame :)

I do have a Cinelli Pinocchio stem available that could especially be nice with the Bologna. It is of the same era, it is also made out (profiled) Columbus tubing and it has a little red (machined) cap. As new as the frame. Nos. Pictures:
