Drilling a older carbon frame for internal dropper cable routing.....

Ive got a lovely Trek Top Fuel Team Issue carbon frame which Im planning to restore with custom paint and throw some nice parts on.

It takes a 30.9 post so so I have plenty of options on droppers. I know I could get an external routed post and use the front mech cable stops but I've got a itch to modify the frame so the cable runs internal.

The lower section of the seat tube seems to be alloy which is bonded into carbon about half way up. If I was to drill the alloy section would this be risky due the location of the hole between the main pivot and linkage pivot?

Ie: the upper and lower pivot locations are about 7 inches apart, I'd be looking to make a hole about halfway between these two areas.

For the downtube routing I would just epoxy on some hose guides so the housing can be neatly zip tied on.

Bad idea?

I genuinely thought the Reverb ASX was the first electric dropper post..... wow learn something new every day.

Every day's a school day..... Cheers for your input.

I think maybe I'll try and get a second hand Fox Transfer external post.
