it's not dangerous. whether it'll be any good is a different matter

it's gonna be heavy and an even slacker angle than the already Northshore geometry.

i figure i'll be OK if it's pointing downhill and i'm not collecting air-miles... ?

If I dial in lots of sag perhaps?

I wouldn't see why you would have a problem - that looks pretty much stock set up for that vintage of Hammer. As long as your looking at 80mm of travel you should be fine.

Re: danger scale from zero to big problem - Z1's on 1995 RM

Only issue i can see is the increased A-C length.
What was the Hammer designed around, and what travel/A-C are the Z1s?

If there is a massive difference, you might pull the head tube off with the extra leverage.

1995 was "designed" around a rigid fork or move to quadra 21 suspension. This was so you are talking 46mm (a2c ~405mm).

The Judy had only just been released at 50mm with the long travel 60mm SL.

No doubt it'll work and be fine though

Re: danger scale from zero to big problem - Z1's on 1995 RM

Judy has a2c of 440mm or something and the Z1s are 480mm or so therefore I dunno what that makes in degrees.

She rides lovely with Judys I just want them retired to an XC bike.

These Z1s have a wee stanction scratch which doesn't really get much past 80mm travel...

Hard to believe RockShox just increased travel on the Judys until it reached the "DownHill" version. I was considering buying a set of DHs but are they much different asides the travel?
Do they have blah blah titanium hardware and uprated cartridges?
