crank extraction problems update-success

what extractor is it ?

i used one that had the look of dubious quality to it and sure enough the end snapped and it started to screw itself into the bottom bracket

to be fair your being slightly vague  has any alloy from the crank been shed ?

did it go tighter before locking ?

may be irrelevant but hasn't been mentioned yet: did you take the washer out before screwing the puller in?

carsten

What cranks is it ?, your Cooks ones  , aren't those supposed to be made of cheese masquerading as alloy ?

I remember a mate had a set of dog bone Cooks BITD that he used to batter on and off with a mallet cause the treads in the centre were minced, those were only about a year old at the time.

Sorry this is little consolation buddy , i'd be tearing my hair out :(

Incredible news
I took them to the bike mech who preformed a miracle removal in about 4 mins
He's checked the thread and theres minimum damage ,in fact theres still plenty of thread left and i've not to worry :D :D :D

After he took my extractor off ,his shop one threaded in no problem at all
Shows the difference between a keen amateur and a professional who only fixes bikes and has done for 25 year
I really REALLY cant believe it was that easy

What a guy :D
