You're right, I think it was Eugene Pokorny and he was definitely East European. I'm going to have to get up into the loft and dig out the old 'Coureur Sporting Cyclist' mags just do check it out. I also think he won the tour of Britain in '61.

Sounds right. There were all sorts of teams from Eastern Europe riding the ToB in those days, most of them having virtually unpronouncable names! Pokorny wasn't to bad though, I could manage that.

I could never get the black socks thing though - and still can't!

I'm based in Brighton and would like to make it to a meet-up ride at some point in the future.
