The crowdfunding of Brian Curtis' framebuilding courses has gone live as of Monday. http://www.retrobike.co.uk/?p=1815 :D
I'm already signed up...

UK BMX framebuilding legend Brian and Andrew Denham are crowd funding a framebuilding academy in Frome, Somerset.
If you fancy building a frame with Brian, have a look at their project:

Some of the best raw fillet brazing ever (IMHO)

The very small catch (or sweetener, depending on your social perspective) is that you don't get to keep your first frame, which may be rideable, but will not be the best frame ever. It will be used by the charity Re~cycle to generate frames for Africa that will be donated once made into working bicycles.

They're already over half way there after a few days, with 42 people signed up, but would always welcome more sign-ups.

All the best,

Well they've reached their funding target, so I'm going to get to learn how to make a frame. Sweet :cool:

@Danson67

I would have thought that you could teach them a thing or two about frame building. Not the other way round.

Thanks for that, but I've never been much good at big brass fillet brazing. I used to be all lugs etc, a few SIF49 lugless ones, but it's only been TIG welding aluminium for the last 12 years...

My Curtis BMX is a bit rusty now, 27 years on, but Brian's raw fillets are legendary:

It's hard to describe how good that is...no filing, smoothing or filler, that's as brazed :shock: just cleaned off and chromed. Such control...This frame got me into framebuilding in the first place. I used to just sit looking at it. Brian's 70 now, he's passing the torch.

All the best,

awww, this looks cool! Have fun guys, will be good to see how this works out.

How much is bench time to make the second frame?
