Fantastic job Joe- That is a really classy looking bike now.

Why thankyou sir! :D

Hoping to have it finished by the end of this week..

then ill take it outdoors and get some proper piccies done.

Almost there

Well i just spent last couple of hours finishing the Hikari :D

Ive now added Fast Feather wheel quick releases, Ritchey brake levers, Suntour accushift 7 spd thumbies, NOS DX pedals, NOS XT 2mm brake cables....

Im quite happy with the results but i feel it should have Ritchey tyres on it like it had originally.. Im also going to put a 135mm axle in the NOS LX wheels i got for this and swap them over..

Pictures coming soon :D

Very nice resto look forward to the finished pics you got any before photos?

I have a couple of pics of it in its awfull state..Ill post em up when i get chance.

It had a bare metal patch in the middle of the top tube the size of a fist

Ill get some better pictures of the finished bike too later this week.

Bike-Tech and Nöll had some very cool MTB-frames. I think Nöll had a complete rigid steel bike down to -20 pounds, IIRC Bike-Tech had some stupid light rigid bike too.

Nöll is still around, but their old bikes from ~1993 where oozing with class IMHO: http://www.noell-fahrradbau.de/

Little impression from the Nöll line up in the 1995 BIKE yearbook >>

That M5 SL is fillet-brazed and clearcoated

Pure class

Finished and ridden

Heres some pics of the finished Hikari and some before pics of some of the worn and tatty paintwork and components.

It rides really well with that stretched out and rigid old school position.
