Stiff Little Fingers, Glasgow Apollo, 1981 <- Wide eyed 12 year old, mum and dad dropped me and a pal off outside and picked us up afterwards.
Runrig, Stirling Albert Halls, Barras, etc, umpteen times early to late '80s <- So good live, or maybe I just liked to pretend I could sing in gaelic
Big Country, Edinburgh Playhouse, 1984
Marillion, Edinburgh Playhouse, 1985 <- Gies a bun, gies a bun, etc.
Rush, SECC, 1987 <- Album quality, but live. Perfection.
Chuck Berry, Edinburgh Playhouse, 1988 <- Low expectations, still probably the best gig I've ever been to.
Tangerine Dream, late '80s <- Front row of the balcony, a beautifully trippy experience.

Gomez, The Fillmore, late '90s <- Just a wonderful noise. Added bonus of meeting a guy I went to college with in Paisley.
Travis, Oakland, late '90s <- Backing Oasis, blew those arseholes away.
Neill Finn, Some tiny club in San Francisco, late '90s <- Wife liked him/Crowded House, so chummed her along, another low expectations but superb gig.
Ben Folds, Glasgow Concert Hall, 2005 <- Acoustic, just him and a piano. Magical.
Overrated/dishonourable mentions....
Pogues, late '80s, Barras <- Not even Kirsty MacColl could save it.
AC/DC, Hampden, last year (or was it the year before?) <- Gash, will never go to another big stadium gig again.
Oasis, drunk, stupid, overblown and utterly bombastic.
Tori Amos <- Saw her as part of the 'Lotta Pianos' joint tour with Ben Folds, early '00s. Oh dearie me.

The Butthole Surfer as couple of years ago n Glasgow, a long term ambition fulfilled. They didn't disappoint.
Oh and I saw AC/DC on the Highway To Hell tour in the Odeon cinema in Edinburgh. I was about 12 and one of my big brothers mates dropped out at the last minute so I got his ticket, brilliant concert and little did we know it would be the last tour they did with Bon Scott.
