Hello: My name is Gonzalo and I’m from Spain, so first of all excuse my grammar mistakes.
Even that this is my first post I found Retrobike about 5 years ago in a Spanish MTB site.
The history begins with a visit to my uncles house.
In the shed something called my attention, it was a partially dismantled bike, when I got closer it turned out to be my brother’s Marin Bear Valley SE from ‘93 that after some years of use was given away to my cousin.
Looks like he ”upgraded” it with a suspension fork, ahead stem and some kind of adapter for cantilevers, but at some point it appears like it was used as parts donor.
In the first moment I wasn’t sure if it was worth the effort to restore it, but due to sentimental value decided to give it a second life.
When it was given to my cousin it was in perfect working order and most parts original.
This is how it was when I recovered it.
