Azonic DS1 fitted to Marzocchi Shiver SC

Dirt Disciple
Hi there!

well, all have just started with unplanned purchase, I've bought the fork coincidentally, Marzocchi Shiver SC 120mm 2002. Eventually, I needed to dress up my new fork. I was looking for inspiration which frame (and parts) would fit this nice fork, and I've founded NOS Azonic DS-1 frame in L size.

This is how my journey has started.

The fork was in a great condition, all gaskets were rebuild, oil was changed, and this fork works pretty good now.

I've bought a new 20y old frame. Its condition was amazing, but it required some paint job. Now it shines like a diamond :)

The plan is to dress up this bike with HOPE shiny parts and make a nice single speed bike.

A quick frontline update.

I have visited a local Hope dealer and bought a few completely unnecessary items, red cranks are so lovely.

Shiver got service over the weekend, it's lovely too. All new gaskets and oil made a perfect job. Need to order stickers locally and red knobs at Dr.Zocchi.

A friend of mine has promised me that he will drop the wheels off at me, not sure whether the wheels are 26" or 650b, will see. The wheels are built using Hope Pro 2 Evo hubs, so they definitely fit in this project.

Headsets dilema. I have chrome/silver Chris King NoThreadSet, but also black Hope headset. Hope headset fit to this project as per its origin, CK looks here much better. To make the choice more difficult I found a red Hope top cap in shed.

Seems that we have brakes too, I found a pair in the shed.

Which headset would look best depends on your bars and stem. I think polished alloy bars would look cool with the forks.

completely agree, I think we have two options here, either:
- silver headsets, spacers, stem and black bars plus silver seat clamp
or
- black headsets, spacers, stem and polished alloy bars plus black seat clamp

Once I get the wheels I'll make a mock-up with silver headsets and black stem - I have these in the shed.

The wheels have arrived, so I could make a mock-up. I put silver headsets and black stem to see which variant I like more, black or silver. Silver variant has won the prize.

The wheels are 650b, once I get tires we will see if 650b wheels fit the shiver and a tail. I've ordered Maxxis CrossMark II.
I needed to make a full service of the hubs, I used this as an opportunity to change rear axle to 135x10 bolt in. I’m on top of the world!

In next couple days I'm going to get the final (silver) Hope stem and try to find bars. Next is bb, obviously must be Hope.

Still a lot of work ahead.

Can't hide this longer....

Yesterday, I jetted to the bike shop as I wanted to dress up the bike a bit. Take a look on results, it's better than I thought.

Love it. DS1 frames are so light and so much fun to ride. It's looking great. It's going to be a real ripper.
